Before you get started, make sure have the following.
- Reliance Jio sim/ Any sim which you have used for 90+ days
- Enough balance to send an SMS
If you call the customer reliance jio care and ask the same question, they will directly mention you that it’s not possible.
Well it is, and this is how you can do it.
It’s as simple as by doing PORT of your number.
Do the following (simple steps), i did it by myself to change the ownership of my permanent phone number.
As Airtel had good coverage(Back 2017) and can be good service to get OTP and other important messages easily I ported to Airtel.
However, i still use Reliance Jio for calling and using the internet.

Considering you have used your sim for 90+ days you have complete freedom to change to any telecom you wish to.
- Send a message: PORT “Your Mobile number” and send it to 1900
You will receive an SMS with a secret code, remember this will have some 7 days or 15 days of validity.
If you are not able to port your sim in that time period then the code will expire and the ownership of the sim won’t change. The sim will still remain active and you can re-attempt to port.
Now go to the airtel/idea store or any other store you wish to and ask them to port your number.
Don’t even say a word that you are changing the ownership or any BS.
They will ask you the confirmation code, share it to them.
Verify your identity using your new Aadhar card and new fingerprint of new radar owner.
And done, you should wait for few days (usually 3–4) to get it Damm Transferred to your Name.
